Whitby Seafoods is a privately owned family company, employing over 140 people in the fishing port of Whitby, North Yorkshire. Specialising in frozen seafood coated in batter and breadcrumbs, the business processes up to 3000 tonnes each year and realises an annual turnover of £15 million across the UK in both food service and retail sectors. The company is well managed achieving the highest of industry standards, including grade A for BRC accreditation in the last three years.
Whitby Seafoods focus on making their products Local, Healthy and Sustainable. Whitby is famous for its fine seafood, and all Whitby Seafoods products are coated, frozen and packed in the town. With 25 years' experience in purchasing scampi tails, and by working closely with long term supply partners, who buy from the fishing boats which fish the waters around the British Isles and Ireland, Whitby Scampi is of the highest quality. In line with their ethical stance regarding sustainability, Whitby Seafoods also have MSC 'Chain of Custody', and are working alongside the Marine Stewardship Council and the Marine Conservation Society to help ensure the fishing stocks remain in good supply for years to come.
Whitby Seafoods acquired Middleton Seafoods in 2007. Based in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, the company has built up a solid reputation as one of the industry's most efficient processors and has a well established customer base in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The Whitby and Middleton partnership is focused on working together to be the number one scampi manufacturer.
