Whitby trawler, “Success III” skippered by Andrew Leadley has gained the prestigious Responsible Fishing Scheme award.

The trawler which fishes for nephrops off the North Yorkshire coastline has invested heavily in fishing practices, vessel criteria, crew competence and environmental considerations, the four main criteria of the award.

The scheme is an independent, audited assessment of the application of good practice by a vessel skipper and crew in their fishing operations and is recognized throughout the industry.

It is essential that trawlers, suppliers and manufacturers alike invest in the sustainability and good practice of our industry to ensure the supply of raw material for years to come.

The award gained by Andrew Leadley shows the dedication within in the supply chain to be recognized for the strong ethics that are already present in the industry.
