What is Scampi?
- The correct species name for scampi is Nephrops norvegicus
- It has several other approved names under UK legislation
- Scampi can also be called Norway Lobster, Dublin Bay Prawn, Langoustine
- Not to be confused with a product called 'Pacific Scampi' (Metanephrops adamanicus OR Metanephrops challengeri) sourced in Asia which has recently appeared on the market
- Nephrops landings are controlled by EU quota
- The main points of landings and sale are in Scotland and Northern Ireland
