GM Statement
Since September 1999, all caterers in the UK must state if any of the dishes they serve contain genetically modified ingredients.
New regulation introduced in April 2004 enforces these requirements and includes strict penalties for breaking the new rules.
None of the products in the Whitby Seafoods range contain any such ingredients, so in using the Whitby Seafoods brand, caterers can avoid worrying about whether or not details need to be included on menus.
Whitby Seafoods Technical Manager, Helen Whelan says "Any cereal or oil based products bought and used by Whitby Seafoods have been certified as manufactured without genetically modified ingredients and you will see confirmation of this by the lists of ingredients on every bag we produce.
We have worked closely with our suppliers to ensure that contamination with Genetically Modified material is avoided
All new ingredients will comply with this policy.
