Top 3 Seaside Cycling Routes

Summer is here (the sun's got his hat on for at least the next few hours!), and what better way to enjoy the outdoors on a bicycle by the seaside? Perhaps stopping for some Scampi for lunch.

As Albert Einstein said, "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep you balance, you must keep moving"

So, to keep our (and your) balance, here is our Top 3 Coastal Cycling routes:

Scarborough to Whitby Rail Trail

A 21 mile long route that follows the path of the old Railway, it loops through the countryside, crossing streams and affording expansive views across the North York Moors and coastline.

The route passes through deep valleys and woodland, eventually ending in Whitby harbour, giving you the ideal opportunity to indulge in some of our famous Scampi from one of the many award winning fish and chip shops, such as Quayside

Cornwall Coast and Clay Trail

Rolling farmland, quaint fishing villages and wooded valleys all feature in this 45 mile route, with shorter options available for those with younger children or not keen for such a long ride.

The route heads south from Truro, past the National Trust Gardens at Trelissick and across the River Fal to the picturesque Roseland Peninsula. Next the trail heads inland before looping down to the quaint fishing village of Mevagissy (great stop for that Scampi and a quick ice-cream), heading past the Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project ending up in Bodmin.

Kentish Viking Trail

A circular route covering 32 miles around Margate and Ramsgate, offering exquisite views of the Kentish coastline.

Over half of this route is off road, so you won't need to worry about traffic, riding along the sea-wall, you’ll enjoy views of the beaches and rock pools, and the pretty Botany Bay, followed by Minnis Bay, which is popular for swimmers (we hope you brought your goggles!)
